FAQ on Visa, TRC, Work Permit Services
What is a Vietnam Visa Approval Letter?
A Vietnam Visa Approval Letter is an official document issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department (Ministry of Public Security). It allows travelers to board their flight to Vietnam and have their visa stamped into their passport upon arrival at a Vietnamese airport.
What to do when your visa expires?
If you have overstayed your visa or if it has expired, then you can apply for a visa extension to remain in the country. However, please remember extension is only granted in case of 1-2 days of overstay. For a time lapse more than that, you need to apply for an exit visa to leave the country.
What happens if a foreigner works in Vietnam without a valid work permit?
Working without a valid work permit in Vietnam can lead to serious consequences for both the foreign worker and the employer, including:
Fines: Both parties can be fined. Foreign workers may face heavy penalties, and employers can be penalized for hiring unlicensed employees.
Deportation: The foreign worker may be deported and banned from re-entering Vietnam for a certain period.
Job Termination: Employers may be required to terminate the foreign worker’s contract without offering any compensation.
Legal Risks for Employers: Employers may face additional legal issues, such as complications with immigration authorities or difficulties securing future work permits for other foreign employees.
What is the duration of a Temporary Residence Card (TRC) in Vietnam?
The validity of a TRC depends on your entry purpose, visa type, and passport validity. Specifically:
10 years for large investors
5 years for investors holding a visa with the symbol ĐT
2 years for foreign workers holding a working visa with the symbol LĐ
